Gov. Hochul Event on 5/31

Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies will be hosting Governor Kathy Hochul at our New York City office on Wednesday, May 31. If you are interested in attending, please reach out to Katie Schwab ([email protected]) or Rose Christ ([email protected]) for more information.

Judge Appointments

Mayor Adams announced eight judicial appointments to New York State Family Court, Criminal Court, and Civil Court. Three new judges have been appointed to Family Court, three judges were appointed to Criminal Court, and two judges were appointed as interim Civil Court judges.

Congestion Pricing Update

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority released the Final Environmental Assessment for the Central Business Tolling Program. The draft finding of “no significant impact” indicates a near-final approval of the tolls. The Traffic Mobility Review Board is now tasked with recommending the exact cost of tolls, which will then require approval from the MTA Board. For more information, please see our memo on the finding here.

2023 Cannabis Industry Power Players

Jamie Ansorge has been named to Politics NY’s 2023 Cannabis Industry Power Players. The list honors those leading the cannabis industry into the future. Ansorge, who works with clients in CPS’s New York City practice, noted that working in the cannabis industry provides an incredible opportunity to bring wealth to communities impacted by the war on drugs and provide consumers access to better and safer products.

In last week’s Beltway Briefing, Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies’ podcast, New York Co-Chair New Rose Christ and Principal Jamie Ansorge join their colleagues in Illinois to break down the key races and discuss the potential national implications of the primaries in New York and Illinois.
