Lisa Zornberg Named as Mayor’s Chief Counsel

Lisa Zornberg has been named as Chief Counsel to Mayor Eric Adams. She will succeed Brendan McGuire, who has held the role since the Mayor took office in January 2022. Zornberg will serve as counsel to City Hall and the Mayor, and additionally oversee 10 agencies, including the Mayor’s Office on Contract Services and the Mayor’s Office of Labor Relations. Previously, she has worked as a litigation partner at Debevoise & Plimpton and the Chief of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

New Guidance on Responsible Drone Usage

NYC is setting forth new rules on drone usage, establishing a permitting process and guidelines for take-off and landing of unmanned aircrafts. Under the new rules, individuals will need to apply for a permit to legally take off or land a drone in the city, along with obtaining authorization to operate devices from the Federal Aviation Administration. The permitting process will be run by the NYPD.

Center for Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion Launches

Mayor Adams announced that the city will soon be launching the Center for Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion. The Center will aim to address the challenges that many people with disabilities face when entering the job market, and will function within the Office of Talent and Workforce Development. Mayor Adams also announced an $8.8M investment in direct employment services for people with disabilities.
