Speakers

Wendy Venoit and Jim Kwartnik will be speaking at the Society of Construction Law — North America's 2022 Annual Conference.

Wendy will be speaking on the panel, "Tactical Perspectives When Presenting Construction Disputes." This interactive and experienced panel will share their collective experience — and unique perspectives — in managing and presenting Construction Disputes arising out of domestic and international construction projects. This panel offers the contrasting perspectives of the owner, contractor, advocate, expert and arbitrator regarding effective presentation of construction disputes, including the effective management and submission of claims and scheduling disputes during the construction project, when to invoke the dispute resolution process (as well as which process to invoke), and effective presentation of claims and disputes to a mediator, DRB, arbitration panel or other adjudicative body. The panel will share real life experiences and lessons learned regarding strategies and tactics that have achieved successful results, and those that have not.

Jim will be speaking on the panel, "Comparing/Contrasting Standard Forms." Standard forms are often used on construction projects due to their ease of use and general ease of access. However, knowing when to use a specific standard form, when to supplement a standard form, or when to avoid a certain standard form takes thoughtful consideration of how the form will be used and the desired outcome for the project. This program is presented by four highly experienced professionals who will provide information on the differences and similarities between common forms. They will also share their experiences and provide guidance on when to use a standard form and when and how to alter a form effectively.
