Employees with school-aged children are quickly learning that back to school will not be a return to normalcy. Schools are implementing modified education plans to provide for student and teacher safety in light of coronavirus concerns. Plans include mandatory and optional remote learning and hybrid models of in-person and remote learning.

How will this impact your employees’ ability to perform their jobs and your company’s ability to accomplish its business objectives? The challenges will be numerous. We will discuss what employers must do to comply with applicable laws and strategies to meet business needs and address workplace issues. For instance:

  • If children have half-days in school, are employees entitled to intermittent leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) to work half-days?
  • If an employee decides to home school his/her child, is the employee entitled to leave under the FFCRA?
  • What are your options if an employee needs to be at home with children but has no FFCRA leave available?
  • How can you properly plan for the impact upon your workplace?
  • How can you ensure employees are effectively telecommuting?
  • What laws are impacted as you attempt to address the impact of employee leave due to child care in your workplace?

We will delve into the many implicated issues to ensure your business is prepared with the tools to address the impact that the 2020-21 school year will have upon your workplace.
